Who is the most important relationship in your life?
Did that relationship take a lot of energy and effort to make work?
If you are involved in any type of relationship you would know how much work that relationship takes.
God should be the most important relationship in our lifes.
God is not like any other relationship we will ever have. With people you eventually get to a point where you have learnt all you need to know.
But when you fall in love with God, you learn something new everyday. And just as you think you have learnt everything about him, you find out that you have so much to explore.
In James 4:8 God made us a promise. He promised that he will come near to us.
What an amazing promise right? The most high, alpha and omega wants a relationship with us.
But…
That promise comes with a process.
We need to draw near to God first then he will draw near to us.
God made the promise and we can trust him because all God’s promises are yes in Christ.
Now we need we take the next step and draw near to God.
↯ How to draw near to God ↯
We serve an amazing God because he doesn’t just tell us to do something but he also shows us how. How can we draw near to God daily?
⇿ Prayer ⇿
Prayer is essential for your walk with Christ. Prayer is an amazing way to spend quiet quality time with God. In my last blog post I talked about the holy spirt and how he can help us pray.
When you pray it’s your time to tell the father everything and anything. Tell him about your worries, your day, ask him for help and thank him.
Prayer shouldn’t only be something we do before we sleep or wake up.
Throughout the day we need to find time to stop, be still and spend time with the father and pray.
God makes us another awesome promise. He promises that when we pray to him he will listen.

Worshiping the Lord shouldn’t just be limited to one day of the week for Church.
We should take time out of our week to just worship the lord.
We can worship him in the shower, on our way to work, while we’re cooking dinner etc
When we praise God it is our way of surrender, our way to thank him, our way to proclaim that he is king over king.
For me personally, I love to include worship before I read my Bible.
We worship God because he is worthy and he deserves all of our praises.
⇿ Confess your sins ⇿
If you read James 4:8 again carefully James tell us how we can draw near to God.
He tells us that we need to wash our hands.
This means that we need to confess our sins to God and ask for forgiveness.
You see, sin creates a fence between us and the lord. Sin draws us away from God which is the last thing we want.
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
-Proverbs 28:13In proverbs 28:13 it tells us that we shouldn’t cover up our sins but rather confess them.
We all sin and fall short from Gods glory (Romans 23:3) but it’s what you do with that sin that makes us different and set apart.
So you can cover up your sin like the world or you can confess your sins to God, because 1 John 1:9 tells us that when we confess our sins God will forgive us. The blood of Jesus covers our sin!
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
-1 John 1:9We need to stop doing the things God hates and we need to repent.
⇿ Purify your hearts ⇿
James also tells us to purify our hearts and then he calls us double minded.
Double minded means that we have our mind and hearts on two things.
To draw near to God we can’t love both God and the things of this world. We can’t have divided loyalties.
We were called to want what God wants.
We need to stop craving the devil desires in this world and start pursing God and what he has for us. ↯ Draw Near to GOD ↯
God doesn’t just want to be involved in your life when it comes to the big stuff like answering big prayers.
God wants to be involved in our everyday life’s.
I think that drawing near to God comes down to making time for him in our life’s.
And if we can make time for Netflix we can surely make time for God.
One of the amazing things about God is that he is not that hard to find.
So I encourage you to draw near to God today in whatever way that looks like to you.
Someone of you it looks like taking a major step in your life and accepting God as your lord and savior. Which will be the best decision you will ever make.
Dear Father God.
Thank you lord for your love and your grace in my life. Thank you for choosing me and wanting to spend time with me. Thank you God for your promise that you will draw near to me. I ask God that you help me take the first step and come close to you. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN!
